One of the charter members of Major League Soccer, the Los Angeles Galaxy is one of the most decorated clubs in American soccer. Although this is their second appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League, the Galaxy competed in the Champions Cup five times, winning the championship in 2000 by beating CD Olimpia from Honduras 3-2 in the final. Los Angeles also has played for the MLS Cup six times, winning in 2002 and 2005. Led by U.S. international Landon Donovan, global superstar David Beckham and Colombian Juan Pablo Angel, the Galaxy won the Supporters Shield, but lost to FC Dallas in the Western Conference semifinals. The club is coached by Bruce Arena, who has won titles both domestically and internationally, guiding the United States to a pair of World Cup appearances, including the quarterfinals in 2002. Along with rival Chivas USA, the Galaxy play in the 27,000-seat Home Depot Center, the cathedral of soccer in America, in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson. The club is owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group, which also owns and operates several concert and athletic venues, including the Staples Center.
