One of the most decorated clubs in Mexico, Toluca is making its second consecutive appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League, having reached the semifinals this past season. The Diablos Rojos earned their berth by beating Santos Laguna on penalty kicks to win the Bicentenario title. Brazilian-born midfielder Sinha, who became the first foreign player to score a goal for Mexico when he struck in the 2006 World Cup, is the club's captain, while Jose Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre is its manager. The club plays at Estadio Nemesio Diez, which has a capacity of 27,000 and is one of the oldest stadia in Mexico after being constructed in 1954. Nicknamed La Bombonera, Estadio Nemesio Diez has hosted a pair of World Cups, in 1970 and 1986. Toluca has had its share of famed managers, including Ricardo Lavolpe, who coached Mexico in the 2006 World Cup and had an infamous rivalry with star midfielder Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Enrique Meza, who coached the club to three championships in three years, and Jose Pekerman, who won three FIFA World Youth Championships and coached Argentina in the 2006 World Cup.
