One of the nine remaining charter members of Major League Soccer, D.C. United is the most successful team in MLS history winning four MLS Cups, four MLS Supporters Shields (most points in the regular season), two US Open Cups and the CONCACAF Champions' Cup in 1998. Known as the "Black and Red", D.C. United has an active and passionate fan base, with three official fan clubs and is regularly one of the best attended clubs in MLS. The club has played since its inception at RFK Stadium in Washington, used as a venue for the 1994 World Cup and this past year for Gold Cup.
