Arabe Unido is making its second consecutive appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League. The squad finished second behind eventual winner Pachuca in Group A and lost in the quarterfinals to two-time finalist Cruz Azul 4-0 on aggregate. Founded by Gerardo Sebat, the club was originally named Club Atletico Argentina from 1990-94. Nearly all of Arabe Unido's players are from Panama, the other four hail from Colombia. Defenders Reinaldo Anderson and Omar Camargo, as well as midfielders Armando Cooper and Alejandro Velez, and forward Orlando Rodriguez, have played for the Panamanian national team. Colombian Richard Parra is the manager and Panamanian Pedro Gordon is the chairman. The club plays at 4,000-seat Estadio Armando Dely Valdes in Colon. It is named after former Panamanian national team player and national youth coach Armando Dely Valdes, considered one of the greatest players in Panamian history and older brother of the soccer-playing twins Julio and Jorge. "El Pele Panameno" suffered a heart attack in 2001, which left him in a coma. He died in 2004 at the age of 40.
