HEREDIA, Costa Rica - Herediano will have to make the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals without Victor Nunez.
The 32-year-old Dominican born striker, who has scored 32 goals over the past two years for Herediano, has been diagnosed with torn ligaments in his right knee and will miss the next six months, the club said.
Nunez, who has played in seven games in the Champions League with both Herediano and Liberia but not scored, had complained of pain in his knee since the start of the season, club spokesman Roberto Carpio said Tuesday.
He played the club's league opening games against Alajuelense and Santos, but not since.
Nunez did not play last week against Real Salt Lake in Herediano's 1-0 win at home in the Champions League nor in Saturday's 2-0 league victory over Perez Zeledon.
